Respiration is important because:-

it produces energy that is essential for the normal functioning of the body.

Respiration provides cells with oxygen and expels toxic carbon dioxide.

the respiration process gives the body of the living organisms the needed energy to do all the body activities , The respiration process is the process by which the human obtain energy from the digested food .

Some of the energy released by respiration is also in the form of heat. This heat energy contributes significantly in the warm-blooded animals towards the body.

The respiratory system also warms, humidifies and filters air during gaseous exchange.
