There are many factors responsible for the degradation of individual development:

1) Influence: influence doesn't only mean the forceful influence but it also represents the type of persons around whom a person lives and stays. The company he enjoys is one of the most basic things which hinders individual development.

2) Habits: the habits of a person are what degrades the personality and the development of the individual. If a person is into bad and addictive habits it might not prove to be that beneficial for his development.
