when light enters your eyes and you see,the black dot inside your eye is called lens. so when lens focuses light on the back of the eye in a layer that is retina. It is inside the eye.The retina contains several nerve cells and the sensation felt by the nerve cell are then transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve.
