Hey there!!!

___________________________________________

¤ Retrogressive metamorphosis :

Loss of advanced characters present in Larval stage during development...
The adult is devoid of advanced characters present in larva ..

¤ In Urochordates :

•☞ The larva has notochord and most of its nerve chord in its tail...

•☞ So during metamorphosis... When the tail is lost... Notochord and most of the part of nerve chord also gets lost...

•☞ So adult is sedentary... And do not contains notochord .

•☞ The adult is hence devoid of the advanced characters which were earlier present in their larva ( tadpole)

•☞ Such type of metamorphosis is called "Retrogressive Metamorphosis ".
