What is Reverse osmosis ? A blood cell is kept in 1% by mass NaCl solution, explain if the blood cells swells due shrinks and why?​

Reverse Osmosis means opposite of osmosis, that is movement of solute particles from higher to lower concentration. This can be achieved by applying potential.

This is now used in water purification techniques.

Blood cells will shrink, as NaCl solution is a hypertonic solution and water will be moved from lower concentration that is red blood cells to higher concentration NaCl solution. Thus cells will shrink.
