Evidences which are from Atavism are known as Reversion.

Important Information:-

1. Sometime these type of characters suddenly appears in some individuals which were considered to be present in their ancestors but they are lost in the course of evolution, this phenomenon is known as atavisn or reversion.

2. Atavisn tells us that those structures which were fully developed those atavistic structures must have evolved from such ancestors

Examples:-

  • (i) Extra long and pointed canine teeth
  • (ii) Tail in new born baby
  • (iii) Cervical fistula that is pharyngeal gills slits.
  • (iv) Extra nipples in Female
  • (v) Long and thick body hair.
