Rh factor:
In 1940, Landsteiner and Weiner discovered that apart from antigen A and B, another antigen discovered from Rhesus monkey, may be present on the surface of the RBCs in many people. This antigen was named as Rh-factor or Rhesus factor. The people (almost 85%- 90%) who possess the Rh-factor are called Rh+ and those who do not possess this factor are called Rh- .
