Rh-factor:
The rhesus factor is an important characteristic of blood cells. It indicates whether the blood of two different people is compatible when mixed – such as the blood of a mother and her baby at birth.
Symptoms :
- Yellow coloring of the skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice)
- Pale-coloring because of anemia.
- Fast heart rate (tachycardia)
- Fast breathing (tachypnea)
- Lack of energy.
- Swelling under the skin.
- Large abdomen.
Mechanism:
Rh disease occurs during pregnancy. It happens when the Rh factors in the mom’s and baby’s blood don’t match. It may also happen if the mom and baby have different blood types.
→ Definition and explanation of its mechanism :- The blood of most people contains a substance called RH factor when the blood of such an individual who is RH positive is transferred into persons lacking it , the blood of the recipient develops and antibody forage substance within about two weeks of blood transfusion as it gets sensitized . Now if a second transfusion is given to such a RH negative person the antibody produced by the first transfusion causes a reaction with the transfused blood which may even lead to death . This is similar to the development of allergy .
