Rhynia is an early vascular plantbelonging to division tracheophyta of pteridophyta . This was first known from lower devonian in a place called Rhyie chert.Aberdophyta of North Scotland bwhere it grew in the vicinity of a silica-rich hot springs.

The Rhynia like plants seem to have disappear during upper Devonian period most likely due to their struggle for existence with higher vascular plants that we're better suited to the changing climate of that time.
