Rinderpest was a fast spreading viral disease of cattles. It was arrived in Africa in late 1880s'.Within a few years, it spread out in the whole continent. The cattles were the main source of livelihood of african people and the most important wealth. The African livelihoods were destroyed as the (rinderpest killed 90% cattles) cattles died all around the continent and the local economy was greatly affected.
European colonisers benefited the most in this.Africans lost their livelihood and thus were successfully forced into labour market by europeans. To strengthen their power the european colonial goverments monopolized all the left scarce resource of cattles, which helped to conquer and subdue Africa.
