role of constitution is described very briefly in preamble. which states that
1. constitution is given by us( Indian citizens ) to ourselves
2. it is sovereign socialist secular democratic republic in nature
3. it introduces us to fundamental right of justice, liberty , equality and fraternity.
4. and finally it mentions the date on which the constitution is enacted. I. e. 26th Nov. 1949
