what is rolling motion

priyanshi291100: any motion containing both the rotational aswell as transational motion is rolling motion...it has got both the linear and rotational properties like force and torque in the same directions..ex rolling of ball from a plank

A special case of rigid body motion is rolling without slipping on a stationary ground surface. This is defined by motion where the point of contact with the ground has zero velocity, so it matches the ground velocity and is not slipping.

Answer

⚫Rolling Motion

◾The combination of rotational motion (without slipping) and translation motion of a rigid body is known as Rolling motion.

⚫Note ; For a spherical rigid body, velocity of the point on the top surface is twice the velocity of centre of mass and velocity of the point at the bottom in contact with the ground is equal and opposite to that of velocity of centre of mass.
