1. Wilhelm Roentgen (March 27, 1845- February 10, 1923) was a mechanical engineer and physicist who was born and died in Germany. In 1895, he discovered a type of radiation which he called X-radiation. Through his discovery he was able to theorize that x-rays are capable of knocking electrons loose from atoms.

He theorized that when the cathode rays (electrons) struck the glass wall of the tube, some unknown radiation was formed that traveled across the room, struck the chemical, and caused the fluorescence. ...
