what is Rounding off to the first decimal place

surajvs1996: The position of a digit to the right of the decimal point in a number written in decimalnotation. In 0.079, for example, 0 is in the first decimal place, 7 is in the second decimal place, and 9 is in the third decimal place.

bonjour dear!

through examples i will explain

1.45 --------------------- 1.4

98.456 ———————- 98.5

6324.89456 ————— 6324.9

0.95 ————————- 1.0

56 —————————- 56.0

justification

After the decimal point get rid of all digits but the first 2

If the second digit is more than 4, increase the first digit by 1

Always write the decimal point and one digit even if it is zero

e.g.

6324.89456 becomes 6324.89

9 is above 4 so increase 8 by 1

so final answer is 6324.9

trickier example

0.95 stays as 0.95 since only 2 digits

5 is more than 4 so increase 9 by 1

so final answer is 1.0

hope it helps
