The Rowlatt Act was hurriedly passed in the Imperial Legislative Council in 1919, which gave enormous powers to the British Government to arrest any leader without trial for a period of 2 years.
The Indians reacted in opposition to this act, as this was a clear example of how British were suppressing their revolutionary movements by arresting their leaders. The reaction of the Indians can be seen as the Jalianwala Bagh Massacre.
