Here we go to the bitter journey of Rowlatt way back to THE YEAR 1919....

In 1917 , the Governor General Lord Chelmsford appointed a commitee under the leadership of Justice Sydney Rowlatt to investigate the nature and extent of revolutionary activities and to suggest legislation if neccessary to deal with them effectively. On the basis of its report, The Gov.t passed the Rowlatt Act in 1919. The act authorised the government to imprision any person without trail and conviction in a court of law. The act came as a rude shock to the Indians.
