Royal water is another name for aqua regia. Aqua regia is a mixture of concentrated HNO3 and concentrated in HCl in the ratio 1 : 3.
This mixture of acids is highly corrosive, and can even dissolve noble metals like gold and platinum which do not react with most of the reagents under normal conditions.
