Ryotwari system is a system of revenue collection... it was implemented by the British... in the system the British officers used to take the revenue directly from the ryots or peasants...the revenue was fixed on the basis of fertility of the soil...

Sir Thomas munro introduced the system of ryotwari settlement in madras presidency it was later extended to the bombay presidency as well. According to this system the peasants & the ryots were considered the owners of the land and land revenue was directly collected from them. .the rate of revenue was fixed at roughly half of the total produce.
