RuBisCO:

  • RuBisCO is most "abundant enzyme" on earth, and it stands for a big name "Ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate Carboxylase Oxygenase".
  • This enzyme is present in matrix of chloroplasts that acts on substrates "ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate" and carbon dioxide and oxygen, either one at a time.
  • The "RuBisCO" is most important enzyme that is associated with carbon fixation.
  • It fixes one molecule of carbon dioxide with one molecule of ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate to produce two molecules of glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate.
  • This step is very essential in dark phase of "photosynthesis".
