We can prevent metals from getting corroded by :

(i) Electroplating metals with metals like Chromium

(ii) Galvanizing metals with Zinc

(iii) Anodizing metals like Aluminium

(iv) Painting, Lubricating or Greasing metals

In the process of galvanization, metals like iron is coated with a thin layer of zinc. This layer of external metal prevents it from being corroded, due to it preventing the metal's contact with air and moisture or acid to eliminate rusting.
