ANSWER ~

THE ryotwari system was introduced in the Madras Presidency by Sir Thomas Munro between 1820 and 1827.

the word ``riot`` means peasent.

under the ryotwari system, the peasants were the owners of the land and the British government directly collected taxes from themthis system was established to remove the middle man that is zamindars.

it was believed that the removal of the Zamindar wood and sure a higher revenue collection, while protecting the riot or peasent from undue exploitation.

however , the system aggravated the conditions of the peasent.

the percentage of taxes levied on them was usually very high without subject to any exemption even during a natural calamity.if a peasant fails to pay there taxes on time, their land was sold off.

the fear of losing land for the peasants photo take loan from money lenders to pay their taxes.
