The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an economic and political organisation of eight countries in Southern Asia. In terms of population, its sphere of influence is the largest of any regional organisation: almost 1.5 billion people, the combined population of its member states.

4- its annual summit has been opened on april 3, 2001 in attendance hamid karzai and its 16th summit took place on 28th and 29th april 2010 at thimpu.
5- the SAARC countries identified mutual co-operation in the following areas like transportation , postal service , tourism , shipping , meteorology , health , agriculture , rural reconstruction and telecommunication .
