The term saturated solution is used in chemistry to define a solution in which no more solute can be dissolved in the solvent. It is understood that saturation of the solution has been achieved when any additional substance that is added results in a solid precipitate or is let off as a gas.

A solution is said to be a saturated solution at a particular temperature if no more of the solute can be dissolved in it at the same temperature.
Suppose, we have a saturated solution of sodium chloride at room temperature (25°C). If more salt is added to it at the same temperature and the solution stirred vigorously, the added salt will not dissolve and will get settled at the bottom of the container.
