It was started by Mahatma Gandhi, The idea of satyagraha emphasised the power of truth and the need to search for truth. It suggested that if the cause is true, if the struggle was against injustice , then physical force was not necessary to fight the oppressor.
Gandhiji started satyagraha movement in many places like champaran in 1916, kheda in 1917 & Ahmadabad in 1918.

The Satyagrah Movement was another movement against the Britishers by GandhiJi after the Dandi March, Its main objective was to make people understand that if u are right, then there's no need of physical oppression and to stay on the path of non-voilence and truth {which is also the meaning of satyagrah}. Many parts and communities of India took part in it rather than some of them like the Dalits and the Muslims.
