scalar quantity is a one dimensional measure of a quantity like temp or mass.. it depends on magnitude not on the direction ...

and a vector quantity is a two dimesnional measure of a quanity that is it depends on both direction as well as the magnitude ..

VECTOR QUANTITY :-A vector has more than one number associated with it. A simple example is velocity.It has magnitude as well as direction.
