Answer:

When white light is split into its 7 constituent colours, the phenomenon is called scattering of light or generally termed as DISPERSION

Explanation:

White light is made up of 7 constituent colours namely VIOLET, INDIGO,BLUE,GREEN,YELLOW, ORANGE, RED(VIBGYOR).When these 7 colours travel together in air (rarer medium) they represent themselves as single colour, white.

But ,as they enter a denser medium (Glass prism)the difference between their speed and wavelength start coming out . Since red light has the highest wavelength and speed it makes the least deviation inside the prism ,violet with least speed and wavelength making the highest deviation among all colour

Scattering is the change in the direction brought out by the irregular and partial reflection of light when it hits the parties of the medium.
