Selective scattering (or Rayleighscattering) occurs when certain particles are more effective atscattering a particular wavelength oflight. Air molecules, like oxygen and nitrogen for example, are small in size and thus more effective at scatteringshorter wavelengths of light (blue and violet). ...hope it will help
