Schottky defect is the defect in the solid that arises due to vacancy of equal number of cations and anions in the solid structure. It is a type of point defect. It occurs in solids like) NaCl, FeO,etc.

it is basically a vacancy defect in ionic solid .in order to maintain electrical neutrality.the number of missing cation abd anion are equal .

example- AgCl, KCl etc
