The word 'Science' originated from the Latin verb Scientia, meaning 'to know'. The Sanskrit word Vijnana and the Arabic word Ilm convey the similar meaning, namely knowledge.
Humans have always been curios about the world around them. The night sky with its bright celestial objects : the regular repetitions of the day and night ; the annual cycle of seasons, the eclipses, the tides, the volcanoes, the rainbow have always been a source of wonder. This inquiring and imaginative human mind observes all these wonders carefully and looks for any meaningful patterns and relations in the phenomena. New tools are built up and used for further studies.
This knowledge which humans have gained through observations and experiments, when organised automatically is called Science.
Ibn al-Haytham,Roger Bacon,Renaissance and many other scientist discovered science.
