When the valence electron is attracted towards the nucleus the fore of attraction decreases due to the force acting from opposite direction due to presence of inner electron is called screening effect

If there are many inner electrons there is more screening effect.

Atomic radii is the distance between nucleus and valence electron.

when there is more atomic size there are many number of electrons so atomic radii is increased. By this atomic radii is affected by screening effect.
