Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope (SCT) is a type of catadioptric telescope that combines a Cassegrain reflector's optical path with Schmidt corrector plate to make a compact astronomical instrument that uses a simple spherical surface.
A Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope works when the light enters through a thin aspheric Schmidt correcting lens, then the light strikes the spherical primary mirror and it reflects back up the tube and intercepted by a small convex spherical secondary mirror which reflects the light out an opening in the rear of the instrument, where the image is formed at the eyepiece.
