In coastal areas, During daytime ,cool air from the sea rush towards the land and warm air from the land rises up . This breeze from the sea towards the land surface is called sea breeze.

During night , cool air from land rushes towards the ocean and warm air from the ocean rises up. This breeze from the land towards the ocean is called land breeze.

Warm air is lighter compared to cool air. Thus warm air rises up and cool air which is heavier sink down .
