EXPLANATION :

We know,

 { \boxed { \sf{ \cos  2x} = 2  { \cos}^{2} x - 1}}

 \sf{ \cos  2x} = 2  { \cos}^{2} x - 1

 \implies \sf \frac{1 -  { \tan}^{2}x }{1 +  { \tan}^{2}x }  = 2 { \cos}^{2} x - 1 \\

 \sf \implies \: 2  { \cos}^{2} x =  \frac{1}{1 +  { \tan}^{2} x}  \\

 \sf \implies  { \sec}^{2} x =  \frac{1 +  { \tan}^{2} }{2}  \\

Multiplying 1/ tan x both side

 \sf \implies  { \boxed{ \sf\frac{ { \sec}^{2}x }{ \tan \: x}  =  \frac{1}{2} ( \cot \: x +  \tan \: x)}} \\
