SECONDARY MEMORY - It is the external memory provided with the help of other storage devices which stores information and data in it. This is also called permanent memory.

Examples - Hard Disk, Floppy Disk, Magnetic Tapes etc.

ROLE IN STORAGE - Secondary storage is needed to keep programs and data long term.

Without secondary storage all programs and data would be lost the moment the computer is switched off.
