We can also say that such a pendulum takes exactly second to move from its mean position to one of its extreme positions. In structure it is similar to any simple pendulum which has a bob suspended from a rigid support using a massless and torsion-free string. The effective length of this pendulum measures one metre. Effective length is the distance of the centre of gravity of the pendulum from the rigid support.
