Secularism is important for India for the following reasons:
1. It enables people of different religions to live in civility with respect for all faiths.
2. It is a part of democracy, which grants equal rights.
3. It safe guards democracy by limiting the powers of the majority and
4. It protects the equal rights of minorities to citizens

Secularism is an ideology which believes in giving the freedom to people to follow , profess and propagate any religion of the choices and treat every religion equally.
It is necessary in India because India being a diverse country has lots of caste and religions. Country with lots of diversities make create large conflicts due to its diverse communities. Two reduce this fights violence and conflicts secularism has been introduced in India.
