* When the heavier component in a mixture settles after water is added to it,    the process is called sedimentation.
 * When the water (along with the dust) is removed, the process is called            decantation.

the process setteling down of the sediment in the water is called sedimentation. it can be made faster by the process of loding in which a block of alum is suspended in water. the process of pouring the upper clear liquid into other container without disturbing the sediments is called decantation
