The plasma membrane is selectively permeable. This means it does not allow all goes of molecules to pas through it. It only allows a certain type of material to go through the cell. The plasma membrane has to be semi permeable instead of fully permeable. because, if it is fully permeable then it would be easy for pathogens to enter our body and infect us.
