✏Life Cycle of a Silk Moth

The silk moth goes through four distinct stages during it's life Cycle.

• The female silk moth lays about 300-400 eggs at a time which hatch within 7-14 days. It is the first part in silk moth's life Cycle.

• When an egg hatches,a silkworm crawls out. This is $\purple{larva.}$of the silk moth. the larva can feed only on mulberry leaves, during it's growth phase it can eat many mulberry leaves, The larva stage lasts about 21 days.

• The larva first builds a web around itself to support it's body. It then starts secreting protein filaments which hardens on exposure to air to spin a $\purple{cocoon.}$ around itself the larva of this stage is called $\purple{pupa.}$

• The pupa undergoes many changes inside the cocoon. The pupa takes around 10-14 days to form an adult moth which breaks the cocoon and comes out.
