sermon is a kind of a short lecture which is given to family or friends during any special ocassion whereas lectures are often long and they are given in official places
Sermon are happy and polite speech for our loved once while a lecture may be sometimes be rude or teach or instruct others
Lectures are generally given by techers to students or by bosses to officers
