Human sex is determined by the presence or absence of a Y chromosome with a functional SRY gene. Once the SRY gene is activated, cells create testosterone and anti-müllerian hormone which typically ensures the development of a single, male reproductive system.

male and female have one pair of sex chromosomes

in male that is x and y

and in female is x and x

when the x of male fuses with a x of female then the child born is female

and when y from male fuses with x of female then the child born is male
