Reproduction is of two types- asexual reproduction and sexual reprodcution.

Asexual reproduction is that type of reproduction in which only one parent is innvolved, as observed in the case of amoeba, hydra, flatworm etc.

Sexual reproduction is that type of reproduction in which two parents are innvolved. For example, in case of mammals like cows, humans, dogs etc.

More to know: Why is reproduction important?

Reproduction is not essential for the survival of an indivisual, but, it is essential for the survival of a species. An indivisual can survive even without reproducing but if the whole species stops reproducing, everyone will die someday and the species will become exitinct.
