Answer:
The Navneet Shabda-Dhatu-Roopavali is good place to begin. There is an excellent compilation of all the Dhatu-roops in it. For more extensive atudy of all tenses and moods of the Sanskrit. Dhatus, the books by Krishna Bhaskar Virkar (parts 1&2 in Book 1 and part 3 in Book 2) are gold standard. But the latter were published between 1930–1946 and then went out of print. I have photocopied versions which I acquired from my late guru.
Shabda-Roopavalis are in the form of Amar Kosha. They are Sanskrit equivalents of Thesauruses for obtaining synonyms. Many are downloadable free PDFs from the Net. But Apte’s or Monier Williams English to Sanskrit dictionaries are good enough for word synonyms
One last comment - one doesn’t need to learn, by rote, the kriyapadams in various tenses and moods unless you’re a brainiac. If you know the kriyapadams for the ‘us’ ‘kri’ ‘bhu’ and ’ vrit’ then you can add on the participles of all other dhatus for colloquial Sanskrit. I could elaborate on this but my answer will get too long!
But it’s good to keep as reference a good Dhatu-Roopavali and a good dictionary to provide synonyms so that you can recognize unusual words when you come across them in Sanskrit works.
Hope this helps!
