shifting cultivation is a form of agriculture. in this agriculture the ground is cleared of vegetation and then cultivated for a few yrs until the fertility of the ground is naturally restored.
slash and burn agriculture is a form of shifting agriculture practiced by the people in the Amazon rainforest. the people cut down trees of a area and burn it. the ash acts as fertilizers. then it is cultivated.
