Answer:

Shifting cultivations an agricultural system in which plots of land are cultivated temporarily, then abandoned and allowed to revert to their natural vegetation while the cultivator moves on to another plot.

Explanation:

1.Patch of land is cleared by cutting and burning of trees.

2.Seeds are planted in the ground under this type of cultivation, soon after monsoon rains.

3.Crops are harvested  by October –November.

4.After 2 -3 years, the clearing is abandoned as the yields decreases owing to weeds, soil erosion and loss of soil fertility. The forest grow back in this region.

5.Then fresh clearing is made and the community migrates to that area.

6.This is a wasteful method of cultivation because it is responsible for deforestation and environmental degradation.

7. It leads to soil erosion.
