Hi Mate,

shifting cultivation means process in which a farmer grows crop in a piece of land and after the harvesting of crop the farmers leaves a land for 5 to 10 years and goes somewhere else and in a new place farmer burns the trees and growth his crop. the shifting cultivation is also called slash and burn agriculture. (it is given in NCERT class 7th geography textbook)

vegetation and cultivated for a few years and then abandoned for a new area until its fertility has been naturally restored is known as shifting cultivation.
