Sign Convention for Spherical Mirrors

All Distances are measured from optic centre of the lens along the principal axis .

The Distance measured in the direction of the incident light are taken as positive.

The Distance measured in the direction opposite to that of the incident light is taken as negative.

The Height measure up was taken as positive and downward is as negative.

The Focal length of a convex lens is positive focal length of a concave lens is negative.

Additional information

Lens Formula :- \large\red{\bold{\frac{1}{v}}} - \large\red{\bold{\frac{1}{u}}} = \large\red{\bold{\frac{1}{f}}}

Magnification :- \green{\bold{\frac{Image Distance}{Object Distance}}}

Power of Lens :- The ability of a lens to converge or diverge light rays is called its power. The Reciprocal of focal length of lens is called the power.

The Power of convex lens is Positive , Power of concave lens is Negative.

The SI Unit of power is Dioptre (D). 1 Dioptre is the power of lens is equal to 1 metre.
