mendeleef gave an elaborate and comprehensive system of classification based on broad range of physical and chemical properties he broadly left some gaps for undiscovered elements it lead to discovery of some new elements

Answer:

Mendeleev's Periodic table shows that elements with comparable characteristics are arranged in columns at regular intervals. Similar chemical properties of the elements in the same column.

Mendeleev's periodic table achievements were:

  • Mendeleev had kept some ‘blank spaces’ for the elements which had yet to be discovered in the place of periodic table.
  • Later as they occur in extremely low atmospheric levels owing to their inertia.

Mendeleev’s Periodic Table demerits:

  • In the periodic table he was “unable to find hydrogen”.
  • There was no periodic increase in the atomic mass while shifting from ‘one element to another’.
  • The amount of elements to be found was therefore not predictable.
