Answer:

Baking soda, (sodium bicarbonate) is used in class C fire extinguishers. When sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is heated by the fire it becomes sodium carbonate. During this process water and carbon dioxide is released.

\starThe similarity in the action of baking soda and soda acid fire extinguisher is as follows:

  • Baking soda on reaction with an acid produces salt of acid , water and carbon dioxide.

  • The carbon dioxide (as a product) is a non-supporter of inflammation and hence acts as an extinguisher.

  • The fire extinguisher cylinder contains dilute sulphuric acid in a bottle. When the bottle is inverted in fire , the sodium bicarbonate reacts with sulphuric acid to produce carbon dioxide.

  • Hence fire is extinguished.

\boxed{\sf{H_{2}SO_{4}+NaHCO_{3}\rightarrow H_{2}O+CO_{2}+Na_{2}SO_{4}}}

Hope It Helps.
