Answer:

The first name describes the number of cell layers present and the second describes the shape of the cells. For example, simple squamous epithelial tissue describes a single layer of cells that are flat and scale-like in shape. ... AnSwer :-

Simple epithelium :-

Simple epithelium is made up of single layer of cell

The simple epithelium is primarily involved in absorption and filtration.

⟶ They are classified into four ⠀⠀types :-

</strong><strong>\</strong><strong>L</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>g</strong><strong>e</strong><strong>\</strong><strong>s</strong><strong>t</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>Squamous epithelium

  • It is made up of a single thin layer of flattened cell with irregular boundaries .
  • Each cell is thick in the middle and thin at the edge nucleus is centrally placed.

Example :-

Walls of blood vessels and air oflungs that form diffusion boundary.

\</strong><strong>L</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>ge\starCuboidal epithelium

  • i) It is made up of single layer of cube like cells
  • ii) Nucleus is centrally located.

Example :-

Ducts of glands and tubular part of nephrons of kidneys that help in secretion and absorption

\</strong><strong>L</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>g</strong><strong>e\starColumnar Epithelium

  • It is made up of single layer of tall, cylindrical and slender cells.
  • Nucleus is located at the base and free surface show microvilli.

Example :-

Lining of stomach and Intestine that help in secretion and absorption.

\</strong><strong>L</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>ge\starCiliated Epithelium

  • It is made up of single layer of tall, cylindrical and center cell.
  • The nucleus is located at the base. And the free surface posses cilia.

Example :-

lnner surface of hollow organs like bronchioles and fallopian tubes. It helps in movement of particles (or) muscles in specific direction.
